Dr. Angela Johnson has served as an adjunct professor for over six years, specializing in health care administration. She has spent most of her career dedicated to addressing health and health care disparities in underserved communities. She has been instrumental in building the capacity of nonprofit organizations across the nation to develop, implement, and evaluate programs and services. Dr. Johnson’s goal as a faculty member is to combine her knowledge and experience to build students’ capacity to make a measurable impact in their respective health care careers.

Areas of Specialty
Dr. Johnson earned her PhD in Public Administration with a concentration in Program Management and a Master of Public Policy and Administration with an emphasis in Healthcare Administration. She has dedicated over 20 years to addressing health and health care disparities in underserved communities through quality assurance, program management, research and evaluation, and grant writing. She takes pride in developing course curriculum tailored to adult learners’ various learning styles and commitments in an effort to promote engagement, comprehension, and retention.
Professional Achievements
Dr. Johnson has served on a nonprofit grant writing team that secured over a million dollars to address health and health care disparities in Mississippi. She was also instrumental in promoting a safer work environment and maintaining productivity at her higher education institution during the COVID-19 pandemic by creating and narrating virtual trainings, including “The Art of Working Remotely During COVID-19” and “COVID-19 Return-to-Work Policies and Practices.” The institution made these trainings mandatory.
Research Interests
Because of her years in the nonprofit sector and experience with federally funded programs, Dr. Johnson’s research interest centers around 501(c)(3) organizations receiving grants to address health outcomes in the United States.
