With 22 years of diverse nursing experience, Dr. Ertha Jeter is a proud adjunct faculty member for the Department of Nursing at NCCU. Her nursing career began as a licensed practical nurse in 2003. In 2005 she obtained her Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) and honed her clinical skills to provide care to a variety of acute and chronic conditions in the telemetry and progressive care unit. As a lifelong learner, Dr. Jeter obtained her Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) as an adult nurse practitioner in 2010. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) in 2022 and began working as program director for a highly regarded nurse practitioner residency, where she provides structured guidance and mentorship to recent graduate nurse practitioners.

Dr. Jeter has cultivated a career defined by compassion, excellence, mentorship, and leadership, providing care to homeless veterans and working with patients in primary care settings.

Guiding the Next Generation of Nurses

With seven years of prior teaching experience, Dr. Jeter joined NCCU as an adjunct faculty member in 2024. She enjoys creating an empowering, supportive, and engaging environment for students to excel at NCCU. Her commitment to student engagement extends beyond the classroom. With a deep interest in teaching, motivating new nurses, and fostering professional growth, Dr. Jeter leverages her expertise to build collaboration and a pipeline that supports the university’s commitment to preparing competent, compassionate, and culturally sensitive health professionals. Her passion is to empower learners to have deep connections with the patients they serve and to establish meaningful relationships wherever they go as nursing trailblazers.
