Patrick McMurray is a registered nurse with a primary background in cardiovascular care. He started his career as an Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)-prepared registered nurse in 2013. His clinical practice has spanned from critical care — working in an adult cardiovascular intensive care unit (CVICU) in rural North Carolina — to community-based nursing roles. In 2022, McMurray completed a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from Western Governors University, with a focus on nursing education. He maintains his clinical practice working as a per diem home health nurse.

Guiding the Next Generation of Nurses

McMurray is an ardent supporter of community college nursing education programs. He has experience teaching in the clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings for clinical and non-clinical courses. His approach to teaching is centered around a constructivist approach grounded in shared humanity and helps students build knowledge in a way that’s relevant to them.
